The William Barnes Society exists to enable its
Members to share fellowship and pleasure in the life and work of William Barnes. Its
membership includes scholars and laymen, those chiefly interested in his poetry and others
who are drawn by his connection with Dorset history and dialect. The Society organises
readings and lectures, slide and film shows, and walks in William Barnes country.
Subscriptions payable before the A.G.M in October are:- Single £8.00, Joint
£10.00.

LYDLINCH BELLS
A special service will be held at St. Mary's Church, Sturminster Newton at
1.30p.m. on Saturday. 8th May 2004 as part of the
annual festival of the Salisbury Diocesan Guild of Ringers. During the service,
in acknowledgement of William Barnes, a poem
will be read and 'Lydlinch Bells' is surely the choice for this that will prove
most sound 'An liked by all the neighbors round'.
